Phoenix Area Hotel Occupancy Climbs to 47.6%

Phoenix #2 in U.S. Top 25 markets after steady weekly gains

PHOENIX, AZ. (JUNE 19, 2020) –– The most recent weekly Arizona tourism data shows hotel occupancy in the Phoenix region at 47.6% for the week of June 7 - June 13, representing another increase of 3 percentage points over last week. Phoenix climbed to the 2nd highest occupancy rate among the Top 25 U.S. markets, continuing the Top 5 trend for the fourth week. Occupancy is down 34% year-over-year for this time period.

Weekend occupancy continues to increase at an even stronger rate. Occupancy on Saturday, June 13 reached 58.7%.

Additionally, Revenue Per Available Room, or RevPAR, for the week in Phoenix also improved but is still down 34% over the same week last year. RevPAR, which is used industry-wide, is the most comprehensive measure of lodging performance.

Arizona May 2020 Occupancy at 37.5%
Arizona statewide occupancy for May 2020 was 37.5%, which is higher than both the U.S. and U.S. Mountain Region stats. Occupancy in La Paz County was up 1.6% over May 2019, while Pima and Coconino counties had the lowest occupancy.
