MEDIA ADVISORY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PHOENIX (Dec. 16, 2025) — Just in time for the holidays, Grand Canyon National Park officials announced yesterday the South Rim will resume overnight lodging and camping services starting tomorrow, Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025.
This includes all South Rim restaurants, shops, museums, visitor centers and tours, which continue to remain fully open and eager to welcome all guests.
“We’re grateful to the crews who worked so diligently to make these emergency repairs so the park could reopen to overnight visitors so quickly,” said Alix Skelpsa Ridgway, Interim Director of the Arizona Office of Tourism. “The ambiance of the Grand Canyon region is truly magical during this time of year. I encourage everyone to book their trip and explore it soon!”

This reopening follows the successful completion of emergency repairs to the Transcanyon Waterline and the restoration of necessary water capacity within the park. Breaks to the line resulted in a temporary suspension of overnight visitation on Dec. 5 to conserve existing water resources. With the reopening, fire restrictions remain in place and park officials request guests follow voluntary water conservation guidelines.
