AOT Highlights Arizonans in Tourism During
2021 National Travel & Tourism Week
PHOENIX, AZ. (May 3, 2021) — The Arizona Office of Tourism is celebrating National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW) all this week by showcasing some of the amazing people and places that make Arizona an unforgettable destination for tens of millions of visitors each year.
To highlight this year’s NTTW theme, the “Power of Travel”, AOT set out on its own Arizona Road Trip to talk with tourism industry people across the state about their destinations and attractions, why they love tourism and how AOT can continue to support them.
“My absolute favorite part of this road trip was getting to chat with some of the great people throughout Arizona’s tourism industry,” said Debbie Johnson, Director of the Arizona Office of Tourism. “They were hit hard during the pandemic and they’re so excited to welcome visitors again. The best way we can support them is to plan vacations during National Travel and Tourism Week!”
Arizonans and visitors are encouraged to follow along with AOT’s “2021 NTTW Amazing Arizona People and Places Road Trip,” which not only offers suggestions on great places to visit, but includes video conversations with some of the Arizonans travelers might meet during the trip.
- Todd & Kelly Bostock, owners of Dos Cabezas WineWorks in Sonoita, share how they came up with their interesting name and how easy it is to make a quick trip from the Valley to their tasting room.
- Terry Gorton, owner of Pine Creek Canyon Lavender Farm shares why she grows multiple varieties of the elegant, versatile plant at 5,000 feet in Arizona.
- Kelly Holt, director of philanthropy at the Amerind Museum in Dragoon, shares the interesting archeological history and culture of indigenous people of Arizona and Northern Mexico on display at the museum.
“We love being able to share all the amazing places and experiences available across our beautiful state,” Johnson added. “So for National Travel and Tourism Week, we decided to shine the light on some of the great people who host our visitors and make these experiences possible.”
AOT is recognizing NTTW by posting brief videos throughout this week of people in Arizona’s tourism industry talking about their destinations. National Travel and Tourism Week is an annual celebration of the tourism and hospitality industry’s role in supporting communities, building the economy and workforce and bringing people together. It runs Sunday, May 2 - Saturday, May 8, 2021.
