American Indian Outreach

AOT offers a number of programs to support American Indian Communities across Arizona. Cultural heritage tourism, including the American Indian experience, is an integral component of AOT’s marketing efforts.

Results

OUTREACH
  • AOT participated in various Tribal events to provide support for communities engaged in promoting tourism activities, such as the Arizona Indian Festival, the Juan Bautista De Anza Travel Guide book launch, the American Indigenous Tourism Conference, the Hopi Economic Summit and Indian Nations & Tribes Legislative Day.
CULTURAL CONNECTIONS WEBINAR SERIES
  • AOT engages Tribes through outreach to share information about AOT programs and services. This year “Cultural Connections,” a series of the Arizona Tourism University, was launched to inform the tourism industry about each Tribe. Through Cultural Connections, each of the 22 Tribes in Arizona will present about their history, people, cultural preservation efforts, economic development opportunities, current tourism enterprises and building on tradition for sustainable tourism development. AOT completed the first webinar featuring the Hualapai Tribe.
MEETINGS
  • AOT set a goal of 10 in-person meetings with Tribal tourism entities. In FY25, AOT met with 16 groups with the primary discussion focused on the Cooperative Marketing Program and obtaining b-roll and images for use in social media and AOT publications.
